Dr. Sumanta Dey( MBBS, MS, DNB, FNB, FMAS, FAIS, PDFship) is one of the most qualified and efficient Laparoscopic, Bariatric & G.I. Surgeons of the country. He had his advanced surgical training in India’s two topmost institutions, GEM hospital & Research Center(Coimbatore) and Tata Medical Cancer Center(Kolkata). His areas of practice are advanced laparoscopy, comprehensive hernia surgery, GI cancer surgery, bariatric surgery & robotic surgery. Currently, he is attached as a Senior Consultant Surgeon to Ruby General Hospital and Cancer Centre, Kolkata.

After completing his MBBS from Calcutta National Medical College and Hospital in 2008, Dr. Sumanta Dey completed his Master’s degree in General Surgery in 2013 from the same institute. He cleared DNB General Surgery exam in 2014. He worked as a Senior Resident Surgeon & Clinical Tutor at JNM Medical College & Hospital, Kalyani for 2 years. He completed the post-doctoral Fellowship in Surgical Oncology from Tata Medical Center Kolkata in 2018. After qualifying through one of the toughest all India entrance exams, he did FNB in Minimally Invasive GI Surgery from GEM Hospital and research center.

Becoming the Best Laparoscopic GI Surgeon in Kolkata took its fair share of hard work and empowerment. During his post-graduation, Dr. Sumanta Dey has got the Gold Medal for surgical excellence. He continuously upgraded himself in the field of Surgery by doing multiple fellowships from different surgical organizations. He presented various scientific research papers & surgical videos in national & international surgical conferences. His work was well appreciated and awarded by different surgical bodies in India.
